Teresa Roman
FEBRUARY 26, 1945 ~ JANUARY 22, 2024
Teresa Roman, 78, of Philadelphia, PA unexpectedly passed away on January 22, 2024, of natural causes. Her loss is completely difficult, and her family is profoundly saddened.
Teresa was born on February 26, 1945 to Edelmiro Roman and Praxedes Crespo in her beloved town of Camuy, Puerto Rico. She was one of six children: Ana, late William; Ramona, Gloria, and Jose.
Teresa migrated to Philadelphia with her family where she joined her late husband, Jose. It was in Philadelphia, an unfamiliar place and language, that she began to build a life and family, together with her husband and six children. Teresa was an exemplary mother and human being. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her husband and children.
She worked as a homemaker and devoted her entire life to the loving care of the family. Teresa was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and her life was characterized by uncompromising love for her family, friends, and community. Teresa was big hearted and vibrant, and radiated light despite incredible hardships in her life but all the while putting her family first before her own needs. She accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms, and a perpetual smile.
She had immense passion for her family, God, music, and dance. Teresa was an intense reader (read thousands of novelas but loved reading the bible the most). Teresa loved cooking, knitting, crossword puzzles, and simply being surrounded by her family. She was tiny in stature but a giant to her family by demonstrating incredible strength and fierce devotion.
Teresa is survived by Vilma, Victor, Nelson, Jose Luis, Jose Antonio, Maritza; grandchildren Sonally, Emilio, Victor, Alexander, Joseph, Jose Luis, Marilee, Johnathan, Carmen, and Antonio; great grandchildren Carmelo, Amari, Kayden, Rosemarie, Jayden, Ethan, Ivan, and Lincoln; son-in-law, Emilio; daughter-in-law Emily, and Rosita; granddaughter-in-law Rhaea.
Her departure has caused a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply in her wide network of community and church family. The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time and asks that you make contributions to the American Lung Association in lieu of flowers.
