Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to the late Alberto Pérez and the late Eusebia Guzmán de Pérez.

Beloved father of Itzamir “Itchy” Perez Pagan (Esdras Pagan), Victor “Chucho” Perez and Michelle Torres (Anthony Torres); devoted brother of Alberto Perez Jr. and precious grandfather.

Melvin enjoyed taking the train with his children to hometown games.  He was a good provider to his children and dedicated lot of time with them. He also took care of his father, whom he loved so much. He enjoyed going to car shows, playing basketball and  telling jokes to his relatives and friends.
