Jose Rafael Cruz

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jose Rafael Cruz, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully at the age of seventy one on Tuesday, October 14th 2025.

Born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico to Juan Ignacio Cruz and Carmen Luisa Cruz, both preceded in death.

Jose Rafael Cruz was a man of great strength, quiet wisdom, and unwavering love for his family. A talented carpenter by trade, Jose poured his heart and skill into every piece he crafted, leaving behind not only works of beauty, but a legacy of hard work and dedication. His hands, weathered by time and labor, were just as often found tending to the earth, he had a true passion for planting, and took joy in watching things grow, whether in his garden or in the lives of those he loved.

He was the proud father of Francisco Lugo, Silverio Espada, Noemi Acosta, Jose Rafael  Cruz, and Juan Alfredo Cruz, each of whom carry forward his values of resilience, humility, and love.

A loving brother to Rosa Cruz, Carmen Gloria Cruz, Angel Cruz and Malta Cruz.

Jose's legacy lives on in his cherished grandchildren: Luis Diaz, Tiana Alvarado, Christina Lugo, Tiffany Espada, Donavan Alvarado, Kaylah Bennett, Lucas Espada, Amaya Cruz, Juana Cruz, and Carmen Cruz. He took great pride in his family, always offering a steady presence, a helping hand, or a quiet word of encouragement.

Known for his warm heart and gentle spirit, Jose Rafael Cruz was deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure. He was a steady rock, a loving father and grandfather, and a man whose life was built around care.

A private/family service will be held on Friday, October 24th, 2025, to honor his life and memory.

He will be laid to rest with his late beloved companion, Juana Maria Diaz, whom he considered to be his wife.
