Isaias Aviles Obituary

Isaias Aviles, known by family and friends as “Saqui” was born on Thursday, March 17, 1932 in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico.  He was the second child of the late Ramon Aviles Hernandez and Amparo Aviles Soto. His older brother Manuel, passed away in 2005, and he is survived by his younger siblings, Antonia Pagan and Antonio Aviles. They were a tight knit family bound by love and great respect for each other.

In pursuit of a better life for himself and his family, in 1953 at the age of 21, Isaias left Puerto Rico and worked in Lititz, Pennsylvania as a migrant farmworker.  By 1954 he had settle in Philadelphia, where his aunt Felisa lived, and found work at a statuary factory.  Isaias was instrumental in bringing his siblings and parents one by one to Philadelphia.

Isaias was the proud father of 10 children.  Isaias Aviles, Jr. who went to be with the Lord in 2014, Joseph Aviles, William Aviles, Patricia Aviles (Blair), Thomas Aviles, Amparo Morales (Julio), Geraldo Aviles (Maria), Doris Hege (Jeff), Daisy Zayas (Jose), and Ricardo Aviles (Glenda).  He was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Throughout his life he was a devoted baseball fan, enjoyed playing dominoes, and cock fighting.  In his later years he spent countless hours gardening.

Isaias accepted Jesus, as his Lord and Savior.  He was filled with joy over this decision he had made.

He passed away peacefully on December 15, 2020, Isaias departed his world into eternity and was reunited with the late Maria Luisa Rosario.

He was laid to rest at Greenmount Cemetery. ;
