Elsie Mercado

Elsie Mercado was born in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico on August 6, 1938 to Librada Lopez and Jose Vasquez.

Elsie was blessed with 4 children: Elizabeth, Walter, Madeline and Mildred. She raised her children with love and devotion in Philadelphia, PA.

She was a devoted homemaker and loved to dance, knitting and enjoyed watching sports such as baseball and football.

Mommy, as lovingly called by us, was gentle, kind, loving and wise.

She is survived by her children Elizabeth, Walter, Madeline and Mildred; grandchildren Lisa, Ray, Efrain, Elaine, Pete, Gabriel and Marc; granddaughter-in-law Angelica Crespo; grandson-in-law Juan Nieves; great grandchildren Anthony, Jonathan, Ethaniel, Alyssa, Elijah, Kara, August, Benito and Alexander; her siblings Jose Luis and Luz; and loving son in law Raymond Crespo.

She was preceded in death by her sister Carmen.

She was called home on September 26, 2022, at the age of 84.

Elsie will continue to live on, in the memory of those she loved and touched.
