With heavy hearts and profound sadness, the Adames family announces the sudden passing of Daniel Adames on the evening of Sunday, May 25th, just days before his 75th birthday. Daniel passed away in Upper Darby Pennsylvania, where he lived for the later years of life, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and deep familial bonds.
Born on May 28th,1950, in Lares, Puerto Rico, Daniel was one of many siblings in a large, close-knit family. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Santiago and Maria Adames, his siblings: Gladimir, Paulina, Juana, Quino, Julia, Juan, Confesor, Baldomero, Luis, Gela, Mercedes, and his great- granddaughters, Jayliani & Heaven. Daniel is lovingly remembered by his cherished children, Marisol (Pete) and Angel, his beloved grandchildren: Ivelisse, Dylan, Emily, Alize, Angel Jr., Netalee, Olvia and his beautiful great-grandchildren, Elijah, Angelo and Aalieyah. He is also survived by his devoted siblings: Josefa, Carmen, Ismael, Rosalia, Andres, Herminia, Juanita, Amelia, Elba and Esmeralda, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives he touched.
In 1973, Daniel moved to Philadelphia, settling in the Fairmount neighborhood. Two years later, he met Jackie Gonzalez, the woman who would become his wife and the mother of his children. Together, they built a life centered around love, family, and perseverance, sharing 14 years of marriage and raising their children with unwavering dedication.
Daniel was a hardworking man who took pride in every job he held. He began his career in Philadelphia as a dishwasher at the Sheraton Hotel and went on to work as a factory laborer, maintenance technician, and eventually a property maintenance manager. His strong work ethic and humble spirit were evident in all that he did.
More than anything, Daniel cherished his family. Coming from a large family, he valued togetherness and tradition – often celebrating life’s milestones and holidays with music, laughter, and parrandas that lasted late into the night. He was a passionate Phillies fan and found joy in the simple things: cooking for loved ones, playing dominoes, playing the lottery and losing himself in the healing power of music.
Daniels warmth, strength, and love of life will live on in those he leaves behind. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love, compassion, and support during this difficult time. May God bless and keep you all.
