Camelia Torres

Camelia Torres, age 92, passed away peacefully on August 18th, 2020 surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico to the late Eusebio Vargas and Maria Luisa Perez.

She is predeceased by her husband Herminio and her son Hector.

She is survived by six children: Nelida Weder (Glenn), Nidia Cruz (Felipe), Luz Amina, Alberto, Aurora Pomales (Victor), Mariluz (Milagros).  She also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and one sister Ani Vargas, along with many nephews and nieces. 

Devoted to her family and to her Catholic faith.  A mother figure to many in the community. She could bring humor into any situation and her laugher was contagious. 

A viewing will be on Friday, August 28, 2020 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Rodriguez Funeral Home (Please contact family or funeral home for limited controlled entrance).

Final viewing on Saturday, August 29, 2020 from 9 am to 10 am at St. Helena Church (6161 North 6th Street) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.

She will be laid to rest at New Cathedral Cemetery.
