With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Andres Garcia, a hardworking and dedicated Union Carpenter for over 40 years. Born in Villalba, Puerto Rico, on February 4, 1941, to Anacleto Garcia Gonzalez and Santos Rodriguez Colon, Andres passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Andres was known for his meticulous craftsmanship and his dedication to his union. He took immense pride in his work. Beyond his career, Andres' true passion was his family. He was a devoted partner and husband to his wife, Magdalena, for almost 50 years, and a loving father to 13 children: Madelyn (*), Migdalia, Marisol, Mariel, Yesenia, Milagros, Andres, William, Joanna, Diana, Nilda, Adrian, and Cristina. He cherished his 25 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and was able to meet his 1st great-great-grandchild, showering them with endless love and laughter.
In his free time, Andres played his guitar and cuatro. He enjoyed sitting in his truck listening to the radio, taking long walks to talk to family and friends along the way, and dancing and playing with his grandchildren. He was known for his infectious laugh, his quick wit, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Andres' legacy of love, hard work, and kindness will continue to inspire his family and all who knew him.
Andres is survived by his beloved wife, Magdalena, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his firstborn daughter, Madeline Garcia-Burgos. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 15th, at 9:00 am at Holy Innocents Church in Philadelphia. Interment will follow Mass, New Cathedral Cemetery 3700 North Front Street, Philadelphia PA 19140.
